In the past people have believed in “spot weight loss” - that is the ability to carry out specific exercises to lose weight in one particular part of the body.
Scientists however have shown that this is simply not possible. Either you lose weight all over or you don’t lose any at all.

In terms of aerobic exercise possibly the best to consider are running and cycling, with swimming coming in a close third.
These exercises force you to use your thigh muscles and so firms them up but also don’t forget some limited weight training.

Moderate weight training of your legs *won’t* turn you into one of those freaky, artificial-looking, masculine female body builders you see sometimes.
But it will firm and tone your thighs yet further making you look even better.
One of the best of these leg exercises is the squat. You hold weights in your hands with your feet around a shoulder’s width apart then “squat” your bum down and bend your legs till you’re almost in a sitting position then straighten yourself up again.
Please take care to keep your back straight throughout to minimize the chances of injury.
This exercise can be done with dumbbells in the privacy of your own home if you’re concerned about what others might think of you if you did this in the gym.
So there you go - squats, running and a healthy diet and you’ll lose weight inĀ your thighs before you know it.
