How To Lose Weight At Home

If you’re wondering how to lose weight at home there are actually loads of highly successful ways. Infact, when I lost 2 stone earlier on in the year in just 12 weeks I actually never stepped into a gym to do it.

Crazy but true.

Well now I do attend a gym but it’s by no means necessary as I’ve proved myself.

Losing weight involves three key areas - aerobic exercise, weights and a healthy diet.

By looking for advice on how to lose weight at home I assume you’ve got the diet element covered and are instead looking for advice on exercise.

Here are five ways in which you can carry out aerobic exercise at home and therefore lose weight…

1) Running

Go jogging around your neighborhood or if you feel a little self-conscious (you’ll be surprised how quickly this feeling will go away though) drive a few miles away from home so you won’t see anyone you know before going for a run.

2) Cycling

As above. Get on your bike and get out in the great outdoors.

3) Steppers

You can now buy stepping machines for next to nothing and can spend some time watching TV or listening to some motivating music whilst exercising on your stepper in the middle of your living room (or bedroom if you live with others).

4) Mini Trampolines

Bounce your belly away. There are even DVDs and videos available you can watch while doing your exercises that have sample routines on to help make it fun and rewarding.

5) Skipping

Probably more of a backyard exercise than an indoor activity (though you might have space in your garage if you’re lucky) so you can skip rope.

And yes, boxers do this so gentlemen don’t think this is just a form of exercise for the ladies.

Carrying out 20-30 minutes of intense exercise using any of the methods above will be a suitable way to lose weight.

Generally you should carry out 3 sessions a week, with 2 or 3 weights sessions on alternate days of the week then take a day or two off to enjoy yourself and start again the following week.

Weights actually boost your metabolic rate and therefore your body’s fat burning abilities far more than aerobic exercises so is even more effective at helping you to lose weight.

Buying a bench and some dumb bells needn’t be expensive and these can be stored in a cupboard under the stairs, in the basement or garage when not in use.

Basic exercises like bench presses or flyes work well. There’s no need to get too clever. Just remember it should make you grit your teeth or you either need to up the weight you’re lifting or the number of repetitions you’re doing.
