Exercise Advice - How To Lose Weight For Women

Typical weight loss for women involves a diet such as Weight Watchers or Slim Fat and possibly some yoga or aqua aerobics.

Whilst this will work, it’s slow-going and highly inefficient.

If you’re a woman and are looking to lose weight effectively as quickly as possible then there are some new facts you need to know.

Firstly dieticians and sports therapists have shown that working out to a high intensity for short periods of time is better for weight loss than a longer period of time at a lower intensity.

Unfortunately aqua aerobics, spinning, pilates and so on tend to fall into the low intensity / long time camp.

To maximize your weight loss it’s advisable to work out for just 20 minutes or so and really go mad for it.

Trust me - if you really put your back into it you’ll feel it in less than 5 minutes so 20 will be quite a struggle!

The reason for this intensity for you women is that your body will continue to burn fat for around an hour after this high intensity exercise so you’ll be losing weight long after you lose the gym - but equally pleasantly you’ll have more time available than before for your career, family and friends.

And more time can only be a good thing.

This aerobic exercise should be carried out at least 3 times a week - ideally even more often.

Add into the mix some exercise with weights. Yes I know ladies you don’t want to end up all muscular - it’s just not feminine or attractive.

But there is a reason for this suggestion - namely that exercising with weights is even more effective than aerobic exercise for women wanting to lose weight.

Your body will burn fat for even longer after you stop exercising than high-intensity aerobics.

Add to this the toning effect to make your bum, thighs and stomach even firmer and hopefully you’re starting to see the benefits.

Muscles also use a lot of energy to support so when you start to tone up and add some muscle to your body you’ll burn more fat by default with a calorie-controlled diet.

Here’s my advice on exercising with weights - go for intensity again. Use heavy weights with a few reps rather than 30 or 40 lifts of a very low weight.

Muscles need to be forced to grow - and this can only be done by low reps of very heavy weights.

And don’t forget you are in control. As soon as you feel you have enough muscle and you are happy with your body you can change to lower weights and more reps to just maintain your physique or even stop lifting weights altogether if you feel like you’ve gone a little too far - and that’s the short version of my exercise tips for women looking to lose weight.
